Brief history
Also known as “Pale Mountains”, the Dolomites are a mountain range with precise geographic limits, among the three provinces of Belluno, Trento and Bolzano.
Thanks to the wide variety of pathways and walks, each with a different difficulty level, the Pale Mountains are very popular, in almost every season, both among mountain lovers and tourists who wish to spend their holidays with excursions. Skiing, enjoying mountain walks, nature parks, stillness and beauty... these are some of the highlights related to the Dolomites.
The Cordevole torrent divides the Dolomites in “Eastern” and “Western” Dolomites..
A particular as well as impressive phenomenon characterizing the Dolomites is the “Enrosadira”: a spectacular light effect that colours the snowy peaks of pink, red and purple reflections.
This is due to the chemical composition of Dolomites rocks: calcium carbonate and magnesium. With the reflection of sunlight, at dawn and sunset, the snowy peaks appear coloured with pink/reddish shades.
The most famous mountain is the Marmolada, also known as Queen of the Alps.
